Pachamama, Madre Tierra, Gaia, Mother Earth. We have so many names for our beloved Mother. She is the source of all our riches and abundance. Our entire existence depends on her. She nourishes us with the water and food she provides and with the air we breathe. We gaze upon her beauty and find unlimited sources of creativity through her. For all of this, we owe her our life.
It's time for humanity to return to a place of sacred reciprocity with Mother Earth. We must remember to love her the way she loves us so dearly. It is time to return to balance. Our Mother needs us right now. Like a small child, we must return to our Mother and show her our whole heart. And in doing so we can give back to the one who gives us plenty.
While there are many ways to show our love and respect for Mother Earth, here are a five sacred ways to share your heart, to show your respect, and to honor our Great Mother.
Five Ways to Love Mother Earth
1. Dance on her, barefoot.
Allow yourself to connect with Pachamama through the soles of your feet. Sharing your dance and joy with Mother Earth is a wonderful way to express your love.
2. Drum on her.
Drumming is wonderful way to connect your heartbeat with the beats of Pachamama's heart. Play unto the ground and share your gratitude through your body.
3. Meditate with her.
Go to the park, sit in your yard, find a spot outdoors where you can sit quietly. Close your eyes and listen. Listen to her wisdom. Absorb the love. Share your heart with hers and connect.
4. Create ceremony for her.
Do it alone, gather your friends, teach your children. Take a moment to give thanks through ceremony. Give all your blessings from the deepest parts of your heart and know that it will be received within hers.
Create a garden. Set your intentions to play with Mother Earth. Bless the soil as your run your fingers through it during planting. Give thanks as you water your garden. Rejoice in the bounty of your beautiful exchange.
“Give her love and attention and she will give it back to you in countless ways…” - Tony Burroughs
